INDIRA’S CYBER SECURITY AWARENESS MONTH - ICSAM

What is Cyber Security?

In the digital age, cybersecurity takes on a crucial role by safeguarding computer systems, networks, and digital information from theft, damage, and unauthorized access through diverse technologies and practices. The increasing reliance on technology in our interconnected world underscores the significance of cybersecurity. It serves as a pivotal defense against an array of threats, ranging from viruses, malware, ransomware, phishing, to hacking.

In the absence of robust cybersecurity measures, individuals, organizations, and even governments become exposed to the risks of data breaches, financial harm, and reputational damage. Furthermore, it ensures the security of personal and sensitive data, including financial and medical records, acting as a barrier against identity theft. Businesses rely on cybersecurity to maintain smooth operations, mitigate financial losses, and preserve their standing. Additionally, in the realm of national security, it acts as a shield for nation-states and critical infrastructure, warding off cyberattacks and preserving the integrity of vital systems. Beyond this, cybersecurity serves as a vital tool in countering online fraud, promoting adherence to regulations governing sensitive data protection, and ensuring personal safety. This is especially pertinent as the prevalence of IoT devices increases, as they can pose physical risks if compromised.
