Share Drive
The share drive is drive "S". In Windows Explorer or My Computer it will show as "Share on 'Everest' (S:)". As its name implies the Share drive is where files can be stored so that others can access them.

The share drive is divided into 3 sections, but depending on what permissions you have you may only see 1 or 2 of these 3 sections. The sections are PUBLIC, DEPTS and PRIVATE. Please see below for a description of each section.
Please note: The old "Share" area on the Staff H drive is being phased out as each department "share" area is moved onto the S drive. IT Services will contact your department ahead of moving your H share over to the S drive.
PUBLIC
This is visible to everyone but normally you will not be able to alter or add files to the Public folders as this right is delegated to those who have responsibility for the individual folders within Public.
DEPTS
Staff departments are found here. Normally you will only see your own department listed as you have no permissions to see other departments. Within your department share area you have full access to all files and folders and therefore should liaise with your department colleagues about files found here. Your department's share folder has a size limit and when this limit is reached it is up to your department to discuss among themselves how best to clean out un-needed files.
PRIVATE
This is used for cross-department sharing and/or sharing of files where only a few individuals are allowed access. An appropriate space limit is applied to the folder. You will only see the Private folder if you have permissions to something within it.
