6th INDUCTION PROGRAMME FOR ENGINEERING STUDENTS

|The Visvesvaraya Hall was flooded with hundreds of students who had assembled for the inaugural of the 6th Induction Programme for First Year Engineering Students.|
|The function was presided by the top management dignitaries. The grand function initiated with the national anthem and then the lighting of the lamp marked the joie de vivre of the Late August gathering assembled in the Sir Visvesvaraya Hall. The Director, Dr. R. V. Kulkarni, known in the academic community for his knowledge and resourcefulness welcomed the gathering.|
|The Group Director, Prof. Chetan Wakalkar, Indira Group of Institutes, an enthusiastic leader, gave an introduction to the Indira Group of Institutes much to the delight of the audience. He briefed about the needs of an engineer and gave a success mantra to the students. He also showcased Tata Nano’s production plant and briefed a case study of Aakash Tablet. Finally he wished the students a glorious future.|
The Training Head (Learning & Education) L&T Infotech Ltd., Mr. Prashant Karandikar, delivered the special address. He shared the secrets to success as thoughts, emotions and physical body. He discussed how the courses must be industry savvy and the practical knowledge that students should gain in their nurturing years. He also emphasized on increasing the vocabulary and communication skills of an engineer. He added that the infrastructure provided at ICEM is a boon to the students to nurture their dreams. The choice words and measured phrases coupled with his simplicity inspired the students.
The Head of Learning & Development, Mr. H. S. Murali stressed that ICEM has a good reputation and is constantly motivating students to think “out of the box” and assist them in creative projects. By way of an example he referred the Quick Heal Anti-Virus and its development and explained its quick rise in the market due to its innovative marketing and its need with respect to Indian customers in mind. He guided the students with a four layer plan consisting of growth, profitability, sustainability, reliability. He also quoted “Nothing is Permanent, except CHANGE” where CHANGE stood for choice, habit, attitude, no negative, goals, and empathy.
The Head of R&D, Demag Cranes & Components (I) Pvt. Ltd., Mr. Akhoy Seal, in his address about the issues faced by an engineer when he joins any industry. He highlighted the facilities available to the current crop of engineers, holding out the promise that no student will be disappointed, if they utilize them with full efficiency. The expectations of students are attended to and that they are in good hands, he said to the spellbound audience that highly appreciated his words of inspiration.
