Joy of Giving Week- 2011
Thank you, students, for making the Joy of Giving Week 2011 a huge success. We know for sure that JGW2011 was bigger and had much greater diversity.
I am amazed by the incredible "giving heart" shown by you, as u set the example for all of us yet again. Each event involved students & staff reaching out to people.
Trying to compile a list of people to thank would be impossible but let me thank Dr. Tarita Shankar, Prof. Chetan Wakalkar, Prof. P.K. Divakaran and Mr. Santosh Kumar for their guidance and support.
Apart from fun and joy of giving; it was really a week full of learning, satisfaction and team work.
Started with:
-
Jaadu ki Jhappi: We visited all IGI campuses, met the support staff members and gave flowers & chocolates and also expressed our heartiest thanks for their support.
-
Feed the POOR: We collected food & money from students & staff members and went to Chaturshinghi Mandir, Pune and distributed food items like wheat, rice, sugar, pulses, etc. to almost 100 poor families.
-
Blood Donation Camp: Mr. Santosh Kumar, Director, IT – IGI, the first one to start. Total 99 students and staff members came forward but only 80 were allowed to donate blood. Heartiest thanks to KEM Hospital for their support. Doctors and their team honored us with a certificate, trophy and I-cards for all the donors for their generous donation.
-
Road Star campaign: We gave ROADSTAR cards to all bikers who wore helmets and rose to all who didn’t. We also educated them, ‘why they should wear helmets?’
-
Orphanage & Old Age Home Visit: We visited Mother Teresa Old Age Home, Wakad and met lots of young orphan children and old people. We had organized painting, singing and dance competition for them. Each of them was winners!! This was the best day for us. Our students were playing and talking to them as if they know each other from ages.
